SSLy Scout

‘Intricate guitar solos and beautifully crafted string arrangements’ are not what you hear when you listen to SSLy Scout - sound system dub vibration is the order of the night.

This dub music artist/producer from Bristol has been heavily influenced by the dub reggae founders and new electronic dub pioneers as well as the sound system and party culture of his home city.

Bristol has a deep rooted afro-caribbean culture and SSLy (pronounced Sly) has been tuned by its heavy vibration since youth. Scheming out of his studio built in the loft of a once derelict farm house, his sound is crafted on an odd mixture of analogue and digital gear collected over the years from the early 90s. Looking around his studio it is more Poor-tools than Protools. SSLy obviously doesn’t want to stick to the ‘standard equipment line up’ for his genre.

SSLy operated and DJ’d on his own sound system which had residency at ST Paul’s Carnival in Bristol for 10 years before the pandemic. Not following the usual sound system convention SSLy mounted the rig on to an upcycled elevating ex-military truck creating a dramatic stage. This sound system is soon to be resurrected and put in to action again to carry the dUb from the ruins sound. Over the years SSLy has DJ’d parties and clubs across the city including the legendary Lakota club and rocked the crowd at Bestival.

Following the heavyweight debut release 'babylon dayz' SSLy returns with a thunderous follow-up single entitled 'I and I' released August 8th 2025 once again on his own 'dUb from the ruins' record label. This latest cut brings sound system pressure, a deep driving steppers riddim forged to rattle the walls of the oppressive Babylon structure. Rooted in the rebel traditions of dub reggae, 'I and I' channels the spirit of resistance, it comes fi lock, beat, mash and tear down the Babylon system. The 7” vinyl features the full version of

'I and I' on Side A, backed with a raw dub on Side B, Tailor made for selectors and sound operators worldwide.
